5 Beautiful Beach Houses for Rent in Barbados
If only we could live there all the time
Our idea of a magical trip to the Caribbean involves a few things, like wall-to-wall sunshine and colorful drinks. But near the top of our list comes valuable time at the beach and a place to stay that we absolutely love. Here, we’ve combined those two ideas by seeking out some of the most inspiring beach houses for rent in Barbados. These homes are so close to the ocean, you can already feel the sand between your toes. Here they are—now dream on, dreamers.
1. Gardenia, St James
We can’t get enough of stylish Gardenia in St. James Parish. It’s a place to enjoy at all times of the day, but especially after sundown under the glow of the villa’s bright porch lights and the reflection off its swimming pool. Named after the gated community it resides in on Barbados’ west coast—The Garden—this exclusive property offers all the comforts of home and much, much more. The glorious Master bedroom spans the entire first floor and affords unforgettable ocean views. We also love the quaint and colorful guest house with two bedrooms that are each livable on their own. Your fingers could remain unlifted the entire week thanks to the home’s very own butler, chef, maid, and not one but two housekeepers. Or you could get active and play tennis right there on-site or head out to a nearby golf course—Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane are both a chip shot away. Lounging in and around Gardenia is never a bad call, especially with a selection of shaded outdoor sitting areas from which to choose. The villa’s own lily pond might be a good place to spot frogs, and the best views are found, well…take the short walk down to the beach and you’ll see for yourself.

2. Landfall, Sandy Lane
Situated on the north corner of the horseshoe-shaped Sandy Lane Beach, Landfall was originally built in 1899 and has been lovingly refurbished by its owners, a couple from London, in a distinctly Bajan style. A secluded lagoon-style pool creates the feel of a tropical oasis right in your backyard, but the ocean is just steps away. The house centers around an open-sky atrium, creating a wonderful open-air vibe unique to the Caribbean. You can practically live outdoors here thanks to alfresco dining and showers and outdoor furniture surrounding the pool and hot tub. There is amazing dining close by, including The Cliff, a restaurant with unobstructed ocean views that the villa’s owner personally recommends. (Read more about Landfall.) You’re also close to some of the island’s finest golf courses, just a short walk from the old Sandy Lane nine-hole and a short drive from the world-renowned Green Monkey 18. While there are plenty of reasons to leave the property, there are also plenty of reasons to stay. The villa comes equipped with a full staff that includes a butler, cook, and housekeeper, and some of these staff members have been pampering guests at Landfall for two decades. You’re in good hands and just steps from the beach.

3. Godings Beach House, St Peter
Are you the type of person that likes to relax by the beach and watch beautiful Caribbean sunsets? We thought so. Godings Beach House is perfect for you because, not only are the sunsets over the Caribbean Sea simply magical, the beach is only steps away from your door. Grab your favorite bottle from the villa’s wine fridge, and make some footprints in the sand on your way to shore. Mullins Beach is one of the island’s most popular and home to some of the finest beach houses for rent in Barbados. Here, the beach is your playground and water sports equipment is provided for a day of surefire exhilaration. But one of our favorite things about this beach house and its protected stretch of beach is the ability to catch a glimpse of baby turtles while they make their way to the sea. The home, meanwhile, introduces seamless indoor/outdoor living, with an open concept showing views of the beach. The decor is clean and modern and inspires quintessential Caribbean beachside living.

4. Cove Spring House, St James
What first strikes you about this St. James cottage is its grandeur. Upon entrance through its private gates, you can imagine the various celebrities and high-profile guests that have enjoyed a glass of wine on one of its spacious verandas or around its crescent-shaped swimming pool. The estate’s manicured gardens and Roman grand foyer make the welcome a warm one even if it might give you chills. Once inside, you’ll find out that Cove Spring House’s bite matches its bark. From a theater room to a gym to a business center, you’ll see why this home is so difficult to get a booking at. But hands down, our favorite (and soon to be yours too) feature is the private beach. Nestled between limestone rocks, this private stretch of sand is all yours during your stay. While there are two lovely dining pavilions set up outdoors at the house, we’ll share our little secret with you: order up all your favorite foods for dinner—private chef included—and ask the ever-accommodating staff to serve it to you by candlelight at sunset in that little nook of sand for a dinner you’ll never forget.

5. Still Fathoms, Reed’s Bay
Of all the beach houses for rent in Barbados, Still Fathoms might be the most colorful. With a classic yellow exterior, playful interior touches, and a large mermaid-inspired mural, this beachfront home is a full-on sensory experience. On your villa tour upon arrival, your group will have a field day deciding who gets each room. We still can’t decide which one we like best; each room provides a different color scheme and beach-inspired pattern, and each one is equally refreshing. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that two of the rooms each have access to their own private patio overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Close to golf, tennis, and shopping, the Reed’s Bay area offers plenty to add to an itinerary for a day of exploring, and there are several beach bars and restaurants within a stone’s throw. While you’re just steps from the beach, you also have a private pool, neatly tucked away on the side of the home for ultimate privacy.
